Measuring instruments

The Ricasoli room hosts a historical collection of measuring instruments used in commercial transactions and donated by the Siena Chamber of Commerce. It includes instruments to measure length, volume, weight, including various series of weights, balances, thermometers, levels and callipers. There are also some fraudulent weights confiscated from shopkeepers in the 1980s.

ADOPT OUR SPECIMENS

The Museum specimens require constant maintenance to prevent damage by air, light and microorganisms. You can contribute to their conservation by “adopting” them.
