Spermoteca and Xyloteca

The Spermoteca is a collection of seeds and fruits, to which have been added roots and other dried plant parts, put together between 1875 and 1920. The specimens, displayed in glass jars, mainly belong to species of economic, nutritious or medical interest. The collection includes resins, gums and other products obtained from these plants. The Xyloteca dates to 1920 and consists of sections of trunks and branches of species of trees growing in the nearby Botanic Garden.

ADOPT OUR SPECIMENS

The Museum specimens require constant maintenance to prevent damage by air, light and microorganisms. You can contribute to their conservation by “adopting” them.
