Fish

Nearly all the specimens on show are species that were available in fish markets. The collection includes now rare species such as the marine lamprey and the sturgeon, as well as curiosities such as the seahorse, monkfish and sunfish. There is also a small collection of cartilaginous fish, including a basking shark about three metres long captured near Livorno in 1976.

ADOPT OUR SPECIMENS

The Museum specimens require constant maintenance to prevent damage by air, light and microorganisms. You can contribute to their conservation by “adopting” them.
