Terracotta fungi

One of the most important collections in the museum consists of painted terracotta replicas of fungi created by physician Francesco Valenti Serini (1795-1872) to teach people how to distinguish poisonous and edible mushrooms. The collections consists of more than 1600 specimens and 165 plates, wedding scientific rigour with aesthetic beauty.

ADOPT OUR SPECIMENS

The Museum specimens require constant maintenance to prevent damage by air, light and microorganisms. You can contribute to their conservation by “adopting” them.
